How many Neighbourhood Watch websites are there?

This question is very difficult to answer since they will not all be picked up by Google or other search engines. Those that were listed when I carried out a Google search for the term: ‘neighbourhood watch’ (on 20 August 2015) are shown in the first list below. These appeared on the first 50 pages of search results.

There are probably many hundreds of Neighbourhood Watch websites, possibly a thousand or more, but when you search Google on a simple search term, such as 'neighbourhood watch' it will only turn up the most active of sites or those that have been set up to be more easily found. This doesn't mean that unlisted sites have something wrong with them - far from it - they just don't tick the various boxes required to be found.

This is clearly demonstrated in the second table, which lists the same sites alphabetically and where I have added other Watch websites (marked **) that are Partners of The Crime Prevention Website, which did not come up in the search.

Is your site in the list?

If your website doesn't appear on the first list I wouldn't worry about it, because someone searching for your site will probably add the name of the village or district to their search term and it will be found.

The Crime Prevention Website has been in operation for well over three years and in that time has built up a huge number of back-links from other websites. For a private site it's also managed to achieve a really good authorative ranking, which means that any site that links to it will benefit from some of its 'Google juice'. You may have noticed from the list below that 7 of the top 10 listed are reciprocally linked with TCPW and I don't think this is simply coincidence!
