With the Suzy Lamplugh Trust’s excellent National Personal Safety Day in full swing today I thought it might be useful to remind young people, and especially students about the sort of things they should be thinking about when planning a night out.
I think of students at university in particular at this time of year because as a group their chances of suffering crimes such as theft from the person and violence are about two-and-a-half times greater than the ‘average’ person on the street.
Freshers, in particular, who are new to a city, meeting new people and discovering the delights of new found freedoms should do everything they can to look out for each other so you all stay safe together. I said all this to my two sons when they went off to Uni and I think they listened!
A ten minute read of a few lines of advice could help make all the difference
Stay safe!
