The Crime Prevention Website

Back on February 14th this year I told you about the trial I was running on my new smart doorbell by RING™ at www.ring.com

Please read the news item at this link

I eventually installed the device two weeks into January and I am pleased to report that the doorbell is working absolutely fine and we think we’ve sold about a dozen or so to my wife’s clients who have been as equally impressed as we have!

I mentioned in my February report that I would write again when the battery was due a recharge to let you know how I’m getting on with it.

Well, after we received a low battery warning sent to our phones we removed the unit from its wall mounted back plate (by undoing the two security screws) and plugged it into its charger. This was the night of the 9th April (a Sunday) and in the morning I fitted it back onto its back plate ready for action again.

This means that with a much more than an average use (my wife has lots of clients ringing the doorbell four days a week) the battery lasted three months. I’m pretty pleased with that!

On taking the unit off the wall, which faces most of our inclement weather by the way, I checked to see if there had been any water ingression or corrosion and I am pleased to report that everything was fine.

I will check again in three months when the battery will require recharging and report back again.
