The Crime Prevention Website

Just to let you know that I’ve returned from my regular holiday to Northern Cyprus, have recovered from the mosquito bites and tummy upsets and am now fully charged up for what will no doubt prove to be a busy period leading up to Xmas.

While I was away, Scotland made its decision to remain part of the UK (good news for this UK based website :-)), Ben re-launched our Forum (16 people registered to use it on day one) and visitor numbers to the site have started to go back up again after the lull during the summer holidays - and we’re closing in on 1 million page views since launch!

A Little Reminder

This morning, whilst breaking through the huge numbers of spiders’ webs formed across my path on my little walk to the office at the bottom of the garden I realised that now is the time to offer a little reminder about your Home Security arrangements.

The nights are now drawing in and that irritating clock change on 26 October, which plunges our homes into darkness while we’re still at work, will be on us before we can say “Now where did I put those light timers?”

I know some of you have put off the improvements during the summer months, probably because, like me, you had better things to do, but unfortunately that clock change provides additional opportunity for crime, which is exemplified by increases in police recorded burglary and theft from around the home each November.

So, using the guidance on this website do please have a long hard look at your place and make a list of the things you need to do.  I stick my list on the fridge door, so I can’t ignore it. Mine’s already got ‘New padlock for the greenhouse’ and ‘replacement BS3621 mortice lock for the shed door’.

I wonder what will be on your list.
