It’s good to see Cumbria Constabulary and local Trading Standard Officers checking up on doorstep traders in Carlisle and Barrow this week.

They’re running a week-long operation called ‘Operation Rogue Trader’ to control the illegal activities of some who have been targeting vulnerable elderly residents.  The rogue traders often claim to be builders who trick their victims and charge exorbitant amounts for work that does not need doing, shoddy work or no work at all! The same rogue individuals are often linked to distraction burglaries and so it makes sense for police and trading standards to work together to deal with this problem, one that invariably leads to great distress and financial loss for the victims.

There’s a full article about the operation in the online News and Star today here: http://www.newsandstar.co.uk/news/operation-to-crack-down-on-cumbria-s-rogue-traders-1.1129756
