The Crime Prevention Website

It’s really interesting operating this website and seeing how visitor numbers change during the week and, more importantly, throughout the year.  We’re just emerging from this website’s quieter period of December and January (although 10% up on the same period last year) when we’ve either all got more important things on our minds, such as Xmas, or we’re getting over the celebrations and counting the cost!

As we go into February our visitors are looking at our pages about perimeter fencing and garden security with some of you, no doubt, replacing and repairing fences damaged by the eight named storms to hit our shores so far this winter.  Others are clearly looking to replace their doors and windows this year and have sensibly been checking on how they might include better security at the same time.  A lot of you have also been considering a new or replacement alarm system, which is what I did this time last year and a surprising number of you have been reading up about security grilles and shutters for doors and windows, something that is not normally considered unless the burglary risks or the fear of crime is very high.

So here’s the top six security sections being visited at the moment

The next section to receive most hits is our Home Security Survey page. Visits to this page increased a great deal following Lancashire Constabulary’s promotion of the application and the prize draw we had been running with our friends at Switched on Products (to win a light switch timer).  The Home Security Survey is a great place to start planning your security improvements, because you’re sent a free tailor-made security report and risk assessment score in response to the answers you’ve selected in the survey.  With eight different dwelling types to choose from and around seventy sections to complete it is by far the most comprehensive online security survey available, which has now been completed over 5,200 times!
