The Family Fun Day at police headquarters in Woburn Road, Kempston, will run from 11am until 4pm on Saturday 5 September and include stands from different departments and the opportunity to learn about how to become a police officer, the training on offer and the various specialist roles.

There will activities for adults and children in addition to a chance to inspect vehicles like a police motorbike, a traffic car, personnel carrier and a marked patrol vehicle.

Officers from the force’s dedicated Dog Unit will be on hand and will showcase their skills with a demonstration by canine colleagues who have won many friends on Facebook.

Jon Boutcher, who has just been officially selected as Bedfordshire’s preferred candidate as the next Chief Constable commented: “This force takes huge pride in being open and transparent and we look forward to welcoming as many people as possible along to our headquarters for this special day.

“It is a great opportunity to learn about operational policing as well as many other areas of work led by partners including the Special Constabulary and our community watch schemes.”
