I see from the local media in Somerset that Portishead Neighbourhood Watch is seeking more members to help them. The scheme currently has 70 coordinators covering 85 roads and the Watch Chairman, Nick Gough, is hoping to encourage more residents to join.
Nick told the Weston, Worle and Somerset Mercury that the Watch does more than just crime prevention. On behalf of the residents they take a keen interest in other issues such as speeding, parking, rubbish collections and road repairs. He goes on to say that Neighbourhood Watch is not about curtain twitching, it’s about being a good neighbour and doing good deeds for each other.
If you live in Portishead and would like to help out (believe me, it takes little of your time) then you can contact Nick at nhw@nickgough.net
