The Crime Prevention Website

Soon I’m off to Watergate Bay in Cornwall to dodge the raindrops for a few days. I’ve been visiting the place since I was about 16 years old. Back then I was living in my home town of Exeter, so it was a doddle to get down there.  Nowadays, the journey from London takes some five hours or so (I drive slowly), but it’s still well worth it.

While I’m away there will still be people living in the house (thank goodness), which will help with the old home security bugbear. That said, I have left nothing to chance, so I have left strict instructions for them to set the new alarm when they go out and use the timers for the lights etc.

My immediate neighbour and keyholder is also on hand to deal with any issues that might arise and being a former RAF policeman he can always be relied upon in an emergency.  When he goes away I return the favour. Not wishing to tempt fate I shall most definitely be following my own guidance about holiday security, which you can find on the link below.

I know lots of people do worry when they go off on their hols, which is why I put together my simple holiday security checklist.  If you’re planning a trip soon or maybe an Easter break then do print off a copy of the checklist and keep it with all the other holiday paperwork, so you don’t forget something.

I want you to arrive back from a thoroughly enjoyable break to home in the same condition as you left it.
