The Crime Prevention Website

Dear subscribers

We were just looking at the opening data for Newsletter 13 sent Monday 17 November 11.00 am and we came across a number of bounces.  This means that the newsletter, which you kindly subscribed to, is unlikely to have been delivered to your inbox.

If your email address ends in the following and you didn’t get the Newsletter you might want to speak with your IT department.  Some of these bounces are ‘Hard’ and some are ‘Soft’ – see explanation below.

@lincs.pnn.police.uk Hard

@met.police.uk Hard

@scotland.pnn.police.uk Soft

@westyorkshire.pnn.polive.uk Hard

@freeukisp.co.uk Soft

@....ferries.com Hard

@bromsgroveandredditch.gov.uk Hard

@wn52.co.uk Soft

@outlook.com Soft

Hard indicates a permanent reason an email cannot be delivered and the common reasons are:

  • Recipient email address does not exist
  • Domain name does not exist
  • Recipient email server has completely blocked delivery

Soft bounces typically indicate a temporary delivery issue to an address and the common reasons are:

  • Mailbox is full (over quota).
  • Recipient email server is down or offline.
  • Email message is too large.

As you’ve gone to the effort of subscribing it’ll be a shame if you don’t get to see the newsletter.

If you are unable to resolve the matter, you might want to consider having the newsletter sent to a private email address instead.

Hope this helps and thanks from the Crime Prevention Website team
